General staff application
Start here if you're ready to apply for a long-term staff role at YWAM Chiang Mai.
Apply nowStaff
We invite long-term staff to join our work here in Chiang Mai. Before you apply, take a few minutes to read through how ministry placement, the first year, pioneering and visas work at our base.
Before you apply
If you already have a specific ministry in mind, reach out to that ministry directly. Various ministries may have additional forms, requirements, and slightly differing application processes on top of the general staff application below.
New staff spend their first twelve months in a structured program built around learning Thai language and culture. Local leaders help you set personalized learning goals and a strategy to reach them, so you're grounded before taking on a full ministry role.
If you're hoping to start something new, we encourage you to serve within an existing ministry first during your orientation year. That gives you time to adjust to life here before launching an independent initiative. Any new ministry proposal needs approval from our City Leadership Team.
Several visa types are available, and the regulations around them change fairly often. A YWAM-sponsored visa typically requires leaving and re-entering Thailand every 90 days, with a renewal in your home country every 12 to 15 months. Thai authorities' approval of any visa is never guaranteed, so it's worth planning with flexibility.
